Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
30 class hours (= 22.5 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 90 hours (equivalent to 3 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 67.5 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
After successfully completing this module, students will:
_        have basic knowledge in architectural theory.
_        be familiar with the important basic concepts and their aesthetic, ethical, cultural and humanistic importance, as well as their connections in architecture.
_        be able to see, understand and classify architecture and the content of related disciplines in a theoretical context and to reflect and evaluate their own design work theoretically.
Personal competence:
_        Increase competence in scientific working skills.

Module content:
_        Introduction to the theoretical foundations of architecture and the important architectural theoretical discourses from the 19th century to the present on the basis of topics such as perception, aesthetics, body, space, atmosphere, place, nature, technology, rationality, order, function, type, tectonics, stereotomy, construction, facade, everyday life, participation, memory, image, narration, etc.
_        Exercises with simple research and analysis tasks in connection with the content of the lecture will culminate in a term paper written according to the rules of good scientific practice.
