Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
30 class hours (= 22.5 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 90 hours (equivalent to 3 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 67.5 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
The courses "French 1" and "French 2" are based on each other. In the course of the two modules mentioned above, students will improve their professional and technical French allowing them to advance from entry level B1 to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
 
In the module "French 2", students will first study important aspects of postal communication in a French-speaking professional context. After this, they will develop an awareness for the specifics of the application process in francophone countries and continue to develop their intercultural competence. In addition, they will advance their language skills by preparing professional application documents in French and preparing themselves for job interviews.
As an introduction to technical language communication in internship situations, students will also develop strategies for understanding technical texts and learn to apply linguistic structures for the subject-specific description of objects. They will also learn to apply linguistic structures for the oral and written presentation of subject-specific content and problems. This module will focus on reading, speaking and writing skills.
