Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 150 hours (equivalent to 5 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 105 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
 
After successfully completing this module, students will:
- be familiar with the curriculum and its structure
- be aware of the interdisciplinary connections between the individual courses in the study program (modules)
 
- receive initial insight into practical engineering activities
- be able to integrate themselves in a group, organize projects and develop independent working methods
- be familiar with general work methods and can apply them
- can tackle simple technical problems and solve them in a results-oriented manner
- be able to give a short presentation in front of an audience

- Corporate presentations “Engineering Activities in Professional Practice in Mechanical Engineering” (90–120 minutes)
  Corporate Presentations: “Engineering Activities in Professional Practice in Process Engineering” (90–120 minutes)
 
- Working on a project as part of a team

Teaching methods/Media:
In small groups (3-4 participants), students will work on projects described in a "guideline" by means of simple tasks that demonstrate  the range of mechanical engineering resp. process engineering content and typical activities carried out in the fields.
 
With simple structures, built/developed by themselves, they will analyze engineering-relevant topics and thus, create connections to the curriculum’s content. Students will be encouraged to actively seek any other knowledge they require from other teaching staff members at the htw saar.
 
The projects will be accompanied and supervised by teachers who, as a point of reference, can also provide mentoring.
