The group work will help improve their communication skills and their ability to work in a team. By planning, carrying out and defending a practical scientific project students will  gain experience in self-management - including time management. They will, on the one hand, document their work in writing and, on the other hand, improve their skills in the presentation of scientific results and scholarly discussions.
