60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period. The total student study time is 180 hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS credits). There are therefore 135 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
After successfully completing this module students will: • be able to analyze complex questions/problems/tasks and develop a possible solution, e.g. in the form of individual work steps, solution variants, etc. • be able to familiarize themselves with new, sometimes unfamiliar technical and economic topics, with the support of the supervising professor as required • be able to present and discuss the specified task, interim results and the final result of their work in the plenary session • be able to prepare a written report on the results of their work and critically evaluate those results • be able to organize and collaborate in work groups for a project if necessary

Module content:
The project can include one or more current technical issues from industry (in cooperation with industry) or topics from the university, e.g. from ongoing research/projects. The project will be carried out step by step (in groups or alone) in a self-directed approach under the intensive supervision of a htw saar professor. The progress of the project will be presented and discussed among the module participants in regular presentations. Finally, the results will be presented and evaluated in a scientific paper.
