Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 180 hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 135 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
Advanced Urban Development
After successfully completing this module, students will be familiar with urban development in theory and practice.
 
Landscape Design
After successfully completing this module, students will be familiar with landscape design in theory and practice. The connection between urban development and landscape design will be studied.
Learning objectives will be linked and new skills will be developed through excursions and projects. Social skills will be developed and supported by encouraging group work. The teaching method helps students develop their methodological competence by encouraging them to work on and solve planning tasks independently.

Module content:
The steps involved in urban development and landscape design will be taught and practiced analytically and through drawing.
The module will focus on the integration of urban development findings and planning approaches in building design and the corresponding design of the open space. Urban and landscape planning presentations will be explained and practiced.
 
Advanced Urban Development:
History of urban construction and development based on Saarbrücken. Project-related urban development history as a basis for the design project, typology, grain size, urban structure, connection to the module content in B-A-1.5 "Refurbishment of Existing Buildings", focus on urban use and public building law.
Representation in urban development.
Urban development competitions, master plan, development plan.
Designing open spaces. Knowledge of examples, awareness of the necessity and opportunities of urban planning for architects.
Awareness of the social relevance of urban development.
 
Landscape Design:
Areas for open space design
Planning principles of open space design, connection between urban development, open space design and building construction.
Representation
Awareness for the necessity, opportunities and social relevance of open space design
