Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 150 hours (equivalent to 5 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 105 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
After successfully completing this course, students will be familiar with the basic terms used in connection with IT systems and
  architectures.
- Students will be able to assign given IT systems to the architectures presented.
- They will be able to design simple, distributed systems.
 
- In addition, they will have learned to recognize the vulnerabilities in distributed systems.
- Students will be able to prepare a risk/benefit analysis for IT systems.
- They will be capable of assessing various systems and deciding on their use.

 - Data Warehouse and data modeling (star and snowflake schema)
 - Extract Transform Load (ETL)

IT security
 - Basics of IT security on the basis of the IT Baseline Protection approach
 - The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik) and its "layer" model
 
IT Law
 - Differentiating legal areas (civil law, criminal law, Austrian law
   (data protection law)) with reference to IT
 Typical legal issues in the field of contract law, copyright,
   data protection law and criminal law
