Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 120 hours (equivalent to 4 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 75 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

After successfully completing this module, students will:

- will be able to perform stability checks on structural elements specific to steel construction.
- will be able to perform stability checks on connections specific to steel construction.
- be able to gather, process and apply subject-related information independently.

- Introduction: Steel construction as a construction method, steels for steel construction, steel products
- Basis of design: Safety concept, actions, combinations, stresses, load capacities, verification methods
- Basic components: Tension members, compression members, beams, torsion members
- Connection technology: Bolted connections, welded connections
- Connections, joints, distribution of force: Rigid connections and joints of bending beams, articulated connections of bending beams, introduction of individual forces into beams
