Learning outcomes:
Proficiency - After successfully completing this module, students will: • have attained language skills at the upper C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) • be familiar with the relevant grammar, the general basic and advanced vocabulary of French and most of the vocabulary from their own subject area Skills - After successfully completing this module, students will be able to: • understand the global and detailed information in difficult texts - including the implications they contain - on concrete and abstract topics • follow complex technical discussions in their own specialist area objectively and communicatively • communicate with a highly diverse range of linguistic means so that they can hold conversations with native speakers in an idiomatic, communicatively appropriate manner and without any noticeable hesitation • express themselves in writing on a wide range of general and selected technical language topics in a highly comprehensible and communicatively adequate manner • give job-oriented and subject-specific presentations and prepare the associated written materials in a linguistically appropriate and largely error-free manner Competences - After successfully completing this module, students will: • have developed a sensitivity to the intercultural characteristics of francophone countries for the successful organization of a variety of relevant communication situations in daily (professional) life • be able to engage with the intercultural differences in francophone countries and to interact there successfully and without any communication problems

Module content:
• Maintaining the extensive general vocabulary of French acquired at earlier learning levels • Continuing to build on the extensive vocabulary acquired to date in the field of engineering and technology • Continuing to study relevant chapters of advanced French grammar in greater depth and analyzing them in terms of their potential for use in specialized language • Developing a strong and sustainable ability to communicate in a specialized field in order to conduct challenging discussions, give presentations and write highly sophisticated texts • Continued improvement of reading and listening comprehension through appropriate exercises

• Use a wide range of media: Television and video, radio, press, computer-based interactivity • Partner work, group work and role playing • Presentations and short talks by students • Presentations by the lecturer • Plenary and group discussions • The goal is to enable authentic foreign language communication.
