Lernziele:
After successfully completing this course students will be able to: - describe the assumptions on which linear programming (LP) is built, - formulate LP models on the basis of verbal problem descriptions, - solve LP problems graphically (for two variables) and by using spreadsheet-based optimization software, - interpret the optimal solution to an LP problem and translate it into directives for action, - perform sensitivity analysis and describe the economic information that can be drawn from the analysis, - formulate LP models for transportation planning problems and solve these problems heuristically and optimally, - solve and analyze network problems (e.g. the shortest path problem, the vehicle routing problem) by applying operations research techniques and algorihms, - appreciate the limitations of LP models, - effectively communicate ideas, explain procedures and interpret results and solutions to different audiences.
