Learning outcomes:
Students will receive an overview of transmission types, their components and their modes of operation. After successfully completing this course, students will be able to calculate and design gear ratios of individual gear pairs, planetary gear sets and entire drive trains and draw the corresponding Kutzbach diagrams. They will be familiar with the design of continuously variable transmissions (CVT), automatic and other transmissions and will be able to explain them.
