BAIBA-420 (P420-0483) International Business, Bachelor, ASPO 01.10.2008 , semester 4, mandatory course
Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 180 hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 135 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
This two-part lecture highlights the international legal framework and regulations that are important for business.
 
In the field of international contract law, we will discuss questions pertaining to international jurisdiction, applicable law and legal harmonization or the standardization of laws. In the field of international competition law, we will focus on international and European intellectual property law, competition conflict law and antitrust law.
 
After successfully completing this course, students will be able to deal with the advancing internationalization/Europeanization of law. They will be able to identify the most important international laws. They will be familiar with important international contracts and how to negotiate and draft international agreements. They will be familiar with the basic principles and the limits of cross-border activities. And they will be familiar with English and French legal terminology.

- Inhomogeneity, legal sources, legal nature and elements of private international law
 
- The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG)
- Private international law
- Judicial enforcement of claims , as well as the avoidance and settlement of disputes
 
- Negotiating international contracts
- Rome I Regulation, EuGVVO, CISG and other important contracts of international private law
 
 
B. International competition law (in English)
- International agreements on industrial property rights
- Community trademark and international trademark registration
- Competition law
