MKM-111 Cultural Management, Master, ASPO 01.10.2015 , semester 1, mandatory course
Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 180 hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 135 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

MKM-221 Essential Arts II

Learning outcomes:
Learning outcomes/skills Musical Composition History/The Structure of Movements (2 hours per semester week):
         After successfully completing this module, students will have improved their repertoire knowledge and be familiar with the development of music theory.
         Based on selected examples, students will be able to follow the development of and changes in musical content from the 9th century to the present day.
 
Learning outcomes/skills History and theory of jazz and popular music (2 semester hours per week):
•        After successfully completing this module, students will be familiar with the development of popular music and jazz based on selected examples.
•        They will be familiar with the stylistic peculiarities of the different trends in jazz/popular music.
•        Students will be familiar with the typical musical characteristics of jazz/popular music (form, harmony, etc.)
•        They will be able to name the most important representatives (interpreters)
•        Recognizing the importance of production and marketing for the development of popular music
•        The classification of popular music versus artificial music
•        Gaining listening experience of relevant styles
 
Alternatively, students can choose a harmonization module from the field of fine arts, subject to availability. The same regulations apply here as for the compulsory elective modules (see Annex ASPO dated 14.04.15, Section 1.6)
