Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 180 hours (equivalent to 6 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 135 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
Economic Evaluation:
After successfully completing this part of the module, students will understand the significance, possibilities and limits of economic evaluation in the health sector,be able to critically analyze published studies and assess their transferability to their own work situation. They will be familiar with the main techniques of economic evaluation and the NICE framework for evaluating published studies.
 
Principles of Evaluation:
After successfully completing this part of the module, students will be familiar with central terms, can explain evaluation approaches and critically assess them. They will be able to justify the relevance of evaluation in health care in theory, with regard to needs, as well as the stakeholders involved. Students will have basic knowledge about the evaluation process and be familiar with the procedures of prospective, formative and summative evaluation. In this context, they will have had the opportunity to practice and deepen their existing knowledge of quantitative and qualitative social research. Furthermore, they will be able to critically assess evaluation studies and discuss their applicability in practice from different perspectives.
