Learning outcomes:
Students will acquire a basic understanding of corrosion processes, will learn to recognize the typical appearance of various types of corrosion and will be taught the measures used to prevent or ameliorate the corrosion and oxidation of materials. With this background, students should be able to understand the particular properties of the different classes of materials and be in a position to select the most appropriate type of corrosion protection.
