Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
30 class hours (= 22.5 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 150 hours (equivalent to 5 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 127.5 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
This seminar provides an introduction to the different (socio-)pedagogical paradigms and concepts of migration-related social work. After successfully completing this module, students will be able to:
- explain the paradigms and concepts relevant to migration-related social work
- and assess their influence on the fields of social work and education
- critically differentiate between current concepts of social work, education and upbringing
- and transfer them to the challenges of a migration society,
- adopt a professional attitude towards socio-educational and structural concepts in the migration society
- independently develop migration-related concepts for fields of social work.

Module content:
- Historical overview of (social) pedagogical paradigms and concepts of migration-related social work since 1960.
- Introduction and consolidation of these concepts with reference to the (socio-)pedagogical references in the context of the development of the migration society in the Federal Republic of Germany.
- Introduction to the conceptual development of social work methods of action in the current migration society context.
- Application of these references to case specifics of social work.
