Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
45 class hours (= 33.75 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 90 hours (equivalent to 3 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 56.25 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
Professional skills: After successfully completing this module, students will haved learned key values and attitudes reflected in the study of social work and PdK.
Methodological skills: They will be able to organize a multi-day event, explore moderation techniques, and plan workshops.
Social skills: They will be equipped with teamwork and cooperation skills.

Module content:
The seminar "Welcome to university:  Designing participatory orientation days;
Planning orientation days for first-year students in the Faculty of Social Sciences” will introduce participants to planning an orientation week. The module covers aspects of conference planning and moderation methods on the one hand and introduces basic methods on the other.
 
The orientation days are a key element for first-year students, helping them to find their feet, get their bearings, and familiarize themselves with the specifics of their studies.
During the orientation week, which is expected to take place from October 8-10, 2025,
students will actively assist on these days, plan workshops with lecturers, and develop a supporting program for first-year students together with the student council.
The compulsory elective seminar will start as usual in the first week of lectures in the summer semester 25. All further dates will be announced there.
