Learning outcomes:
The objective of this introductory mechatronics course is to combine components and knowledge from different subjects. After successfully compelting this course, students will be familiar with the system concept, i.e. eliciting, documenting and validating system requirements, as well as getting to know and applying methodical requirements management (e.g. V-model according to VDI 2206). They will be able to systematically derive a system architecture based on functional/non-functional requirements, i.e. from a solution- and hardware-neutral description to component selection. They will recognize the added value of mechatronic systems. Students will be able to apply analogies in the description of mechatronic systems. They will be able to apply statistical methods in system development (e.g.: according to Taguchi) They will be familiar with, able to determine and calculate safety-related parameters.
