Learning outcomes:
The modules English 1, 2 and 3 should be viewed as a unit. Over the course of these three modules, students should improve their proficiency in vocational English from the assumed entry level B1 to level B2 of the Common European Framework. The third module, ‘English 3’, aims to teach and develop the skills that students will require for technical and scientific communication with colleagues and business partners in English-speaking countries or where English is being used to bridge the language gap. Students will also be taught useful strategies and language structures when drafting, formulating and presenting technical documents. The key skills addressed in this course are reading, writing and speaking. Language acquisition is supported and supplemented by reviewing relevant grammar structures and special features of the language, some of which is carried out by the students during periods of self-directed study.
