Workload:
Workload of student for successfully completing the course. Each ECTS credit represents 30 working hours. These are the combined effort of face-to-face time, post-processing the subject of the lecture, exercises and preparation for the exam.

The total workload is distributed on the semester (01.04.-30.09. during the summer term, 01.10.-31.03. during the winter term).
60 class hours (= 45 clock hours) over a 15-week period.
The total student study time is 150 hours (equivalent to 5 ECTS credits).
There are therefore 105 hours available for class preparation and follow-up work and exam preparation.

Learning outcomes:
Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 is the new EU-OPS. With it, the Commission of the European Union lays down the technical requirements and administrative procedures relating to air operations, as provided for in Regulation (EU) No 2018/1139 . After successfully completing this module, students will be able to:
 
- describe the historical development of EU aviation law (four "waves" of EU aviation law) and explain its impact on aviation,
- name the relevant EC/EU regulations of EU aviation law and their main topics and explain the connections or references,
 
- describe the contents of Regulation (EC) No 1592/2002 establishing the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), in particular the tasks and structures of EASA,
 
- explain the structure and content of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 (EU-OPS) Regulation and Annex I Definitions)
 
- explain and summarize the contents of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 (EU-OPS) Annex II AUTHORITY REQUIREMENTS FOR AIR OPERATIONS (SUB-ARO)
 
- explain and summarize the contents of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 (EU-OPS) Annex III ORGANISATION REQUIREMENTS FOR AIR OPERATIONS (PART-ORO)
 
- explain and summarize the contents of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 (EU-OPS) Annex IV COMMERCIAL AIR TRANSPORT OPERATIONS (SUB-CAT)
 
- explain and summarise the contents of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 (EU-OPS) Annex V SPECIFIC APPROVALS (SUB-SPA)

- Outline of the development of EU aviation law in the period from 1980 - 2014 and the contents of Regulation (EC) No 1592/2002 establishing the EASA (tasks/structures).
- Outline and exemplary explanations of the contents of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 (EU-OPS) Annex II and III.
 
- Outline and exemplary explanations of the contents of Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 (EU-OPS) Annex IV und V.
